The Auto/Biography study group was established in 1992.  Apart from a brief entry on the website of the British Sociological Association (to which it is affiliated), the AB group does not have an online existence, making it one of two “thinking places” in my life that unusually have not gone digital (the other is Private Eye).

The AB group brings together people with an interest in the various kinds of biography and autobiography; how lives are represented, the ways in which stories of lived experience are told and the different constructions of identity and self. Many of us work in areas in which these interests are central to how we relate to others – teaching, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, mental health, disability.
